It’s the story of a lovely lady … We were not quite the Brady Bunch. We were six kids and two parents but ours was an unbroken home. We were a natural American family. And naturally, we took family vacations. Five decades after one remarkable journey, I’m piecing together the puzzle of temporary insanity that gripped my parents and convinced them to cram eight people into a 5-door rolling rocket and blast off to the west for a month. A good chunk of the summer of 1970 we spent in the family station wagon.
